Why this creator built a newsletter instead of relying on algorithms

Chanel Contos built Teach Us Consent into the organization that mandated consent education into the Australian national curriculum. Her newsletter has 8,000 subscribers and a 50% open rate, and she can't imagine running her organization without it.

5 trends successful creators are following

One creator has 20 million YouTube subscribers, and they're building their next chapter around a 1,000-person email list. It's one of five shifts the most successful creators are making right now.

Search subscribers by first name

The update you’ve been looking for is here. Search by first name to find the subscriber you’re looking for. No need to worry about whether their name appears in their email address. Small papercut, big impact to your day-to-day.

The podcast Vulture called one of the best of the year, now with a newsletter

Jacqueline Novak and Kate Berlant have built a devoted following with Poog. Their comedic, cult-favorite take on wellness culture landed on Vulture’s best-of list and was profiled by the New York Times. Novak’s one-woman show Get On Your Knees was a New York Times Critic’s Pick and earned her an Emmy nomination. Berlant’s special with John Early was nominated for Best Comedy at the Critics’ Choice Awards.

This newsletter is how they keep in touch with you. Quick, direct dispatches from the Poog universe.

Offer payment plans for your products

Do you offer a coaching program? How about an email course, a week-long retreat, or an event? So much time and work goes into creating and running these kinds of offerings, so it makes sense that they cost more.

Payment plans for big-ticket items help make them more accessible to your customers. And you get to choose how frequently you get paid—monthly, quarterly, or yearly.

A few things to keep in mind when offering payment plans:

  • Trust that you’re worth it. We know it can feel intimidating to put a big price tag on your own work. But make sure you’re not selling yourself short when you’re pricing your high-value products. Payment plans mean that your customers can set a payment schedule that works for them and their budget.
  • Announce payment plans in your product launch emails. Let your customers know up front that they have options when it comes to paying for your products. That way, they won’t get distracted with sticker shock when they click through.
  • Include discounts. Because who doesn’t love a sale? With payment plans, your discount can be applied to each payment.
