Use Liquid to personalize your emails

You've probably heard it's a good idea to personalize your subscribers' emails. With Kit, you can use Liquid, a powerful templating language, to tailor your messages to each subscriber's unique preferences and behaviors. Learn how to use Liquid here.

There are tons of ways to use Liquid to gather data and personalize your emails, but here are a few creative ideas to get you started:

  • Address your subscribers by name: If it fits the tone of your emails, consider adding a subscriber’s name in your copy in a few places. The initial greeting is a great one, but questions, calls-to-action, and even the outro section or the P.S. line can work well.
  • Show content based on if a subscriber has a particular tag: Let's say you tag subscribers when they've signed up to your upcoming webinar. Use conditional content to hide additional nudges to RSVP or give them a different call-to-action in your email.
  • Keep count: You can also use Liquid to keep track of how many times something has occurred, like how many times a subscriber has purchased a product of yours. Use this data to reward your repeat buyers with special discounts and offers.
